About

We built robot vision systems for years. Labeling kept holding the work back.

Vision Lab is our answer to that gap.

The bottleneck came before the robots

Before Vision Lab, we worked on computer vision at industrial automation companies and robotics startups. The recurring pattern was simple: a model iteration finished, then engineers waited 2-3 weeks for labeled data before starting the next training cycle.

This was a workflow failure, not a missing technology. Available annotation tools were designed for images, not video. Review stayed linear, giving every frame equal treatment instead of using confidence. Coverage gaps surfaced only after training runs took a week to evaluate.

We built Vision Lab around three fixes: video-native annotation, confidence-based review prioritization, and coverage reporting that exposes gaps before training rather than after.

Early access opened in early 2026. Feedback from the first cohort matched our experience: the bottleneck was real, and the fix became straightforward when built around robotics teams' actual workflow.

2023
The pattern. In 2023, Akash and Marcus worked on computer vision at an industrial automation OEM. Annotation stayed 2-3 weeks behind engineering, so they began designing another workflow.
2024
Internal test. In 2024, a confidence-scoring review queue cut human review load by roughly 70% on a warehouse robot dataset. They chose to make it a product.
2025
The founding. In 2025, Akash and Marcus left to start Vision Lab. Sofia joined as Head of Partnerships. It was bootstrapped with founders' savings and early consulting for robotics teams.
2026
Access opens. In 2026, the first cohort tested the platform. Pilot results validated annotation speed and coverage reporting for warehouse, agricultural, and inspection use cases.

People

Three builders who have worked directly on computer vision for industrial robots.

Akash Nandi
Akash Nandi
CEO, Co-founder

Akash worked on computer vision data pipelines and structured labeling at scale before co-founding Vision Lab. He focuses on the gap between raw video and model-ready training data. Based in Mountain View.

Marcus Levi
Marcus Levi
CTO, Co-founder

Before co-founding Vision Lab, Marcus built ML pipeline infrastructure and distributed video processing systems. He designed the annotation-at-scale architecture behind high-volume review queues.

Sofia Vasquez
Sofia Vasquez
Head of Partnerships

Sofia works with customers on developer tools and data products. She has helped engineering teams adopt new data infrastructure across multiple companies. At Vision Lab, she is the first point of contact for teams considering or entering early access.
